Defense lifts Lynden Christian to 45-38 victory

Kara Bajema scored 16 points for Lynden Christian’s girls’ basketball team as it defeated Mount Baker 45-38 on Thursday, Feb. 5, at Lynden Christian High School.

Sara Dougan added eight points for the Lyncs (17-3 overall, 12-0 NWC). Emily Brandland, McKenzie Yost, Emily Yost and Emmy Cline all led with eight points for Mount Baker (11-7 overall, 5-5 NWC).

In the second and third quarters, Mount Baker was only able to total eight points, credit to the Lynden Christian defense.

“It was a good run for us defensively. That’s what we try to be all about,” Lynden Christian coach Brady Bomber said in a phone interview.

Lynden Christian awaits its next opponent in the first round of the 2A NWC District Tournament on Wednesday, Feb. 11.
