Neria’s 17 leads Lynden in 58-30 win

Jasmyne Neria’s 17 points led Lynden’s girls’ basketball team in its 58-30 victory against Bellingham on Thursday, Feb. 5, at Bellingham High School.

The Lions’ Elisa Kooiman added 14 points for Lynden (12-7 overall, 8-3 NWC). Emily Benson led Bellingham (3-15 overall, 0-10 NWC) with 15 points.

“(Lynden) set the tone with their defense early. Some looks that we are used to knocking down just weren’t falling for us tonight,” Bellingham coach Ed Wissing said in a phone interview.

The Red Raiders are back in action against Sehome next at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, on the road. Lynden will play Squalicum next at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, at Squalicum.
