Squalicum boys earn district berth with win over Tigers

The Squalicum boys’ basketball team won 66-46 on Thursday, Feb. 5, at Burlington-Edison and assured themselves a berth in the Class 2A Northwest District Tournament.

Darious Powell had 21 points, Josiah Westbrook had 18 and Damek Mitchell had 12 points, seven rebounds and seven assists for the Storm.

“It was a good team win. We played solid defense and shared the ball nicely,” Squalicum coach Dave Dickson said in a phone interview. “I thought we got really good play from our bench tonight — Ben Tripp and Josh Vail. Just good defensive intensity.”

The Storm have a 7:15 p.m. NWC game Tuesday, Feb. 10, at Lynden.
