Martin’s 23 leads Meridian over Blaine

Alex Martin led the Meridian’s boys’ basketball team with 23 points in the team’s 71-51 victory over Blaine on Tuesday, Feb. 3, at Meridian High School.

The Trojans’ (11-8 overall, 3-7 NWC) Nick Rautenberg added 18 points. Ben Hodgin led Blaine (5-14 overall, 3-8 NWC) with 12 points.

“(Blaine), not having their guards hurt them. Our pressure started to get to them the most in the third quarter,” Meridian coach Shane Stacy said in a phone interview.

Stacy highlighted Rautenberg’s play on the offensive and defensive end in the game, adding four assists and five rebounds to go with his 18 points.

Meridian plays Sedro-Woolley next at 7:15 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, at home and Blaine takes on Nooksack Valley at 7:15 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, at home.
