Kooiman leads Lynden over Sehome

Elisa Kooiman led Lynden’s girls’ basketball team with 20 points in its 55-39 win against Sehome on Monday, Feb. 2, at Lynden High School.

The Lions’ Kaitlyn Mark added 14 points. The Mariners’ Madison Ulrich led the team with 11 points and Maddy Hooker, Maddy Bryan and Gina Eisses each had seven points.

“We did a good job establishing the tempo we wanted to play at,” Lynden coach Rob Adams said in a phone interview. “In the second and third quarters our depth and speed kind of wore (Sehome) out. We were able to get good looks in transition.”

Lynden outscored Sehome 35-15 in the second and third quarters en route to its victory.

The Lions will face Bellingham next at 7:15 Thursday, Feb. 5, at Bellingham and Sehome will play Anacortes next at 7:15 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, on the road.
