Anacortes’ pressure too much for Pioneers

Anacortes’ boys’ basketball team defeated Nooksack Valley 73-46 on Friday, Jan. 30, at Anacortes High.

Connor Beard led the Pioneers with 12 points and Tanner Myhre added nine of his own.

“(Anacortes) play at a very high level and press you the entire game. They’re very efficient with their press. Fast and physical. We had difficulties with that tonight,” Nooksack Valley coach Chris Scrimsher said in a phone interview.

Scrimsher said he is proud of his team for not rolling over in the game, noting that a couple quarters Nooksack Valley hung right with Anacortes.

The Pioneers go on the road to play Lynden Christian next at 7:15 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, in a Northwest Conference matchup.
