Mariners come up just short against Tigers

The Sehome girls’ basketball team suffered a close 52-45 defeat to Burlington-Edison on Thursday, Jan. 29, at Sehome.

Maddy Bryan led the Mariners with 12 points, and Sarah Eisses contributed nine points, 10 rebounds and three assists.

“I thought our kids played spectacular against a good team,” Sehome coach Kim Kirk said in a phone interview. “Defensively we buckled down and didn’t make their shots easy tonight, we made them work. We did a good job keeping them off the boards, and Sarah did a good job on the defensive boards. She had six defensive rebounds.”

Devin Grahn added eight for Sehome, and Madison Ulrich had seven more.

Sehome next heads to Lynden at 7:15 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2.
