Trazil, Kavarez Lane lead Lummi over Tulalip Heritage

Tulalip Heritage was able to stay with Lummi for the first quarter, but the Blackhawks’ boys’ basketball team turned on their defense in the second and third quarters of a 58-45 win on Thursday, Jan. 29, at Lummi.

Trazil Lane led the way with 21 points and Kavarez Lane added 12 for Lummi.

“(Tulalip Heritage) came out with energy and hustle. With it being our fourth game in four days, the boys’ legs were tired and heavy,” Lummi coach Jerome Toby said in a phone interview. “Trazil kind of got it going, but defensively Kavarez had nine steals and he stepped up defensively when we weren’t able to find our rhythm on offense.”

Austin Brockie and Dean Williams each added seven points for the Blackhawks.

Lummi gets a break until it hosts Lopez on Monday, Feb. 2, at home.
