Hastings goes off, Lions win big

Scooter Hastings scored 27 points and 12 rebounds and Lynden’s boys’ basketball team rolled to a 72-43 win over Ferndale on Thursday, Jan. 29, at Ferndale High School.

“Basically Hastings played like the college player he is,” Ferndale coach Monte Walton said in a phone interview. “He was hitting 3s, going inside, doing just about everything. He was unstoppable.”

Ferndale (12-6, 6-4 NWC) suffered from a tough night at the free-throw line, going 9 for 21. The Golden Eagles were led by Malik Ivory, who scored 10 points.

Lynden’s Sterling Somers scored 19 points.

Ferndale faces Lynden Christian on Tuesday, Feb. 3, at home. Lynden (14-3, 8-1) plays Sehome on Monday, Feb. 2, on the road.
