Price too much as Sedro-Woolley boys beat Bellingham

The Bellingham boys’ basketball team was within one point in the fourth quarter but Sedro-Woolley ran away late for a 91-79 Northwest Conference victory Monday, Jan. 26, at Sedro-Woolley High School.

“(Sedro-Woolley’s) Jackson Price (42 points, five assists) did what what he wanted,” Bellingham coach Brad McKay said in a phone interview. “When he wasn’t scoring, he was passing the ball around. He’s really quick, he shot the 3 really well. I think what makes him really tough is when he gets a crease to the basket he can score.”

Kalien Hayes led the Red Raiders with 26 points, Dante Check had 15 points and Logan Schilder had 14 points and nine rebounds.

McKay said a bad streak late in the game and down by one was the difference.

“Hayes played pretty well and kept us in the game,” McKay said. “We had basically three bad trips and they came back down and scored. Give Sedro-Woolley credit. They made more plays and got it done.”

The Red Raiders host Mount Baker at 7:15 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, in an NWC contest.
