Lummi’s K. Lane has breakout game in 79-40 win

Trazil Lane and Kavarez Lane led the way for Lummi’s boys’ basketball team scoring 31 and 21 points, respectively, in its 79-40 win against Orcas Christian on Monday, Jan. 26, at Orcas Christian High School.

The Blackhawks’ Austin Brockie added 13 points with four of the 10 3s Lummi made throughout the game.

“Kavarez had his best game of the season. This was his breakout game,” Lummi coach Jerome Toby said in a phone interview. “I was real proud of his hustle and rebounding on the defensive end. He did a great job for us tonight.”

The game was a good step for the team tonight, Toby noted, as the team is cleaning up its play and getting ready for the postseason.

Lummi takes on Providence Classical Christian next at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, on the road.
