Lynden Christian starts game with 15-0 run in win

Lynden Christian’s girls’ basketball team defeated Meridian 74-39 on Thursday, Jan. 15, at Lynden Christian High School.

The Lyncs’ Kara Bajema finished with 19 points and Sara Dougan had 15. The Trojans’ Ellesse FitzGerald led the team with 11 points and Ryley Zapien left the first quarter with a shoulder injury.

“We had a 15-0 start and played solid defense in the full court and half court,” Lynden Christian coach Brady Bomber said in a phone interview. “We executed well and took good shots, turned our defense into offense.”

Dougan was a player Bomber highlighted for providing good leadership in the game.

Lynden Christian will play Anacortes next at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20, on the road. Meridian takes on Ferndale next at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20, on the road.
