Ferndale’s defense key in 52-35 win

Sehome’s girls’ basketball team was defeated by Ferndale 52-35 on Thursday, Jan. 15, at Sehome High School.

The Mariners’ Maddy Bryan finished with eight points, the Lions’ Linsey Honeycutt led the game with 22 points.

“(Ferndale) hurt us in the first half on the offensive boards and forced a lot of turnovers,” Sehome coach Kim Kirk said in a phone interview. “We did a nice job in the second quarter. The girls settled down and took care of the basketball.”

Marina Wright for Sehome was a player Kirk said stood out for her effort in the game.

Sehome will play Sedro-Woolley next at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20, at home. Ferndale takes on Meridian next at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20, at home.
