Nooksack Valley starts hot in its 80-47 win

The tone was set early by Nooksack Valley’s girls’ basketball team in its 80-47 win against Sedro-Woolley on Tuesday, Jan. 13, at Nooksack Valley High School.

The Pioneers’ Brianna Turner led the game with 25 points, with 11 in the first quarter. Katrina Gimmaka added 13.

“We came out and played like we were capable of. We wanted to get out to a good start tonight,” Nooksack Valley coach Shane Wichers said in a phone interview. “We established the tone of the game right from the get-go.”

Sedro-Woolley committed 11 of its 29 turnovers in the first quarter of the game.

Nooksack Valley will take on Squalicum next at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 15, on the road.
