Bellingham’s turnovers key in 62-55 loss

Bellingham’s girls’ basketball team fell short in its 62-55 loss to Anacortes on Tuesday, Jan. 13, at Anacortes High School.

The Red Raiders’ Emily Benson finished with a career-high 23 points and five 3-pointers made. Joelle Zamora contributed 16 points.

“A lot of our turnovers turned into points for them,” Bellingham coach Ed Wissing said in a phone interview. “We felt like we would’ve had a really good shot to win if we could have protected the ball better.”

Bellingham committed 26 turnovers throughout the course of the game. Susie Bennett, who finished with a career-high 11 points, was a player Wissing highlighted as having a good performance in the game.

The Red Raiders will play Blaine next at 7:15 p.m.on Tuesday, Jan. 20, at home.
