Lynden Christian shakes off 3 OT loss to beat Burlington

Lynden Christian’s boys’ basketball team shook off any fatigue from a triple-overtime loss to Sehome on Friday, Jan. 9, with a 67-40 win over Burlington-Edison on Tuesday, Jan. 13, at Lynden Christian in a Northwest Conference game.

Zach Roetcisoender led the Lyncs (9-4, 3-2 NWC) with 19 points, Cody Fransen added 17 and Jake Poag scored 13. Fransen also grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.

“We wondered what type of performance we’d get after the exhausting game on Friday,” Lynden Christian coach Roger DeBoer said in a phone interview. “We were really pleased, especially in the second half, with how our guys came out ready to play. Cody and Zach did a really good job attacking the basket and we had nine guys of the 11 who played score, so it was neat to see a great team win.”

Josiah Meppelink added two points and four assists for LC.

“Meppelink did a great job running the team and getting to the basket as far as sharing the ball,” DeBoer added.

Lynden Christian will look for another win on Friday, Jan. 16, at Meridian.
