Bellingham suffers loss to Anacortes

Bellingham’s boys’ basketball team shot just six free throws in a 71-42 loss to Anacortes on Tuesday, Jan. 13, at Bellingham in a Northwest Conference game.

Kalien Hayes led the Red Raiders with 15 points. Anacortes was led by Jordan Neville’s 13 points. Ty Johnson added 12 and Connor Rodriguez and Daniel McInerney each had 11 for the Seahawks (11-2, 5-0 NWC).

Bellingham (8-5, 3-2) was held to just 16 points in the second half and was outrebounded 34-28.

“They executed their defense very well and we were unable to slow them down,” Bellingham coach Brad McKay said in a phone interview. “When they missed a shot, they got the rebound. They scored on almost every possession. We just need to get better and as a team we need to execute better.”

Bellingham will have a chance to bounce back next week at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, at Blaine.
