Lynden defeats Blaine 63-44 with big fourth quarter

Blaine’s boys’ bsaketball team fell to Lynden 63-44 on Monday, Jan. 12, at Blaine High School.

The Borderites’ Shaq Woods finished the game with 12 points and Kier Munzanreder added nine. The Lions’ Sterling Somers led the game with 24 points and Scooter Hastings contributed 16.

“It was a big fourth quarter for (Lynden). We were able to keep it close the rest of the game,” Blaine coach Shaun Pile said in a phone interview.

Jalen Kortlever came in and played big minutes, Pile said.

Blaine will play Anacortes next at 7:15 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 16, on the road. Lynden will take on Sedro-Woolley next at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 15, at home.
