Lummi girls lose at home

The Lummi girls’ basketball team suffered a 76-19 loss Monday, Jan. 12, at home against Neah Bay.

Janyha Ell led the Blackhawks with nine points, including a 3-pointer.

“I’m really proud of what Janiah did tonight,” Lummi coach Albert Toby said in a phone interview of the freshman. “Good effort the entire game.”

Toby said the Blackhawks are improving.

“We’re starting to become more confident in our game but with the lack of experience it really shows that we are short on the fundamental side,” Toby said, “but on the team-effort side we had good effort from the whole team tonight.”

Lummi hosts Highland Christian next at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 13.
