Lynden Christian’s second half defensive adjustments lead to 52-42 win over Sehome

Lynden Christian’s girls’ basketball team’s halftime adjustments proved to be enough in its 52-42 win over Sehome on Friday, Jan. 9, at Lynden Christian High School.

The Lyncs’ Kara Bajema led the game with 18 points and six rebounds, Sam Van Loo and Sara Dougan contributed nine points apiece. The Mariners’ Devin Grahn led the team with 10 points.

“Sehome came out, hit six 3s and put it on us in the first half. We cleaned up our defensive rotations in the second half and didn’t give up any more 3-pointers,” Lynden Christian coach Brady Bomber said in a phone interview.

After giving up 29 points in the first half, Lynden Christian only gave up 13 in the second.

“Kara Bajema led us in scoring and Sam Van Loo gave us a boost off the bench, she rebounded well and finished around the rim,” Bomber said.

Lynden Christian will take on Burlington-Edison next at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 13, on the road and Sehome will play Ferndale next at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 15, at home.
