Blaine’s five first quarter 3-pointers sets tone in 65-43 win over Sedro-Woolley

Blaine’s girls’ basketball team came out with the hot hand, making five 3-pointers in the first quarter en route to a 65-43 victory against Sedro-Woolley on Thursday, Jan. 8, at Blaine High School.

The Borderites’ Mandy Hayes led the game with 21 points and Josie Deming contributed 14.

“When you make five 3s in a quarter, you know it’s going to be a good quarter,” Blaine coach Ryan Pike said in a phone interview. “The third quarter we came out and made good shots and passes. Then played good defense to lead to easy shots.”

Hayes, Breanna Chau and Josie Deming were all players Pike said played well throughout the game.

Blaine plays Lynden next at 7:15 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 12, on the road.
