Lyncs balanced in blowout win

Zach Roetcisoender scored 16 points, Jake Poag added 14 and Cody Fransen had 11 to lead the Lynden Christian boys’ basketball team over Bellevue Christian 73-32 at the Cloud 9 Christmas Classic on Tuesday, Dec. 30, at Lynden Christian.

“I was really excited about the energy that our entire team came out with,” Lynden Christian coach Roger DeBoer said in a phone interview. “Zach is playing at a really confident, high level and understanding where he fits in this new team. We’re starting to understand our identity as a team.”

Josiah Meppelink was held scoreless, but he dished out a team-high five assists. Lynden Christian outscored the Vikings 33-13 in the second half.

Lynden Christian takes on Sedro-Woolley at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, on the road in Northwest Conference action.
