Blaine’s comes up short at the buzzer in 58-56 defeat to Granite Falls

Blaine’s boys’ basketball team faced a rough third quarter and came up short at the buzzer in its 58-56 defeat to Granite Falls on Tuesday, Dec. 30, in the Blaine Holiday Classic at Blaine High School.

The Borderites’ Carson Knutzen led the game with 20 points and Marcus Potts added 13.

“We came out lapsed and (Granite Falls) had a 9-2 run to take away our eight point halftime lead,” Blaine coach Shaun Pile said in a phone interview.

Blaine had the ball for the last possession and Munzanreder’s shot got blocked. The Borderites’ got a shot off of an inbound play but came up short.

Knutzen was a player Pile said did a great job of being more aggressive and being an offensive playmaker.

Blaine resumes league play against Mount Baker next at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 6, at Mount Baker.
