Bellingham falls to West Seattle 55-49

Bellingham’s boys’ basketball team fell short in its 55-49 defeat against West Seattle on Tuesday, Dec. 30, in the Mountlake Terrace Tournament at Mountlake Terrace High School.

The Red Raiders’ Kieran Lewis led the team with 15 points and Kalien Hayes added 10.

“(West Seattle) came out and hit early shots. (West Seattle) played extremely fast and we had trouble adjusting to their team speed,” Bellingham coach Brad McKay said in a phone interview.

Bellingham put together a late-game comeback in the fourth quarter making it a two possession game, but just couldn’t get over the hump, McKay said.

Lewis and Hayes were two players McKay highlighted as top performers in the game tonight after having limited playing time previously due to injury.

The Red Raiders’ take on Burlington-Edison next at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 6, on the road.
