Sehome’s second half comeback falls short against Cascade Christian

Sehome’s girls’ basketball team’s comeback fell short in a 49-36 defeat against Cascade Christian on Tuesday, Dec. 30, in the Cloud 9 Christmas Classic at Lynden Christian High School.

The Mariners’ Madison MacPhee led the team with nine points, and Maddy Bryan and Devin Grahn both added six.

“In the second and third quarter we did a nice job moving the ball around as a group and got good looks at the basket. We just missed a lot of short shots,” Sehome coach Kim Kirk said in a phone interview.

Sehome was able to cut the Cascade Christian down to five points in the second half, but couldn’t get the shots to go in the end.

“The girls battled and didn’t give up, it says a lot about them,” Kirk said.

The Mariners’ resume league play when they take on Meridian next at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 7, at Meridian.
