Sehome starts out strong in 72-49 win against South Whidbey

Sehome’s boys’ basketball team had a strong start in its 72-49 victory against South Whidbey on Monday, Dec. 29, in the Cloud 9 Christmas Classic at Lynden Christian High School.

The Mariners’ Tanner Clark led the team with 14 points and Leighton Kingma added 12. South Whidbey’s Parker Collins led the game with 25 points.

“We came out ready to play. I thought our guys did well early,” Sehome coach A.J. Labree said in a phone interview. “Through the first half and into the third quarter, we picked up our tempo.”

Sehome outscored South Whidbey 65-33 through the first three quarters. Tanner Clark was a player Labree highlighted as doing a good job distributing the ball in the game.

The Mariners will play Granger next at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 30, in another Cloud 9 Christmas Classic matchup at Lynden Christian.
