Lions roll in California tournament

Lynden’s boys’ basketball team earned a 55-40 win over Pasadena High School, from California, on Saturday, Dec. 27, at the Orange Holiday Classic at Hope University in Los Angeles.

The Lions were led by Scooter Hastings’ 25 points, just one day after he had 24 in a 69-66 loss to La Mirada High School, from California.

“(Hastings) definitely brought his A game and he’s provided some good leadership for us,” Lynden coach Brian Roper said in a phone interview.

Sterling Somers added 12 points and 10 rebounds.

“While he (Somers) didn’t shoot as well, he provided some all-around steady play,” Roper added.

Lynden is in action at the Orange Holiday Classic again on Monday, Dec. 29, at Hope University.
