Defense leads Red Raiders in blowout win

Bellingham’s boys’ basketball team locked down on defense and defeated Marysville-Getchell 77-37 on Saturday, Dec. 20, at Marysville-Getchell High School.

“It was a great defensive game. I thought we played with a lot of intensity,” Bellingham coach Brad McKay said in a phone interview. “We had two regular starters out, so we had big production from the next man up and got great contributions from everyone who played.”

Jakob Chamberlin led the Red Raiders offensively with 19 points. Logan Schilder added 14 points and seven rebounds, and Austin Shenton added 13 points and seven rebounds.

Bellingham also kept its turnovers down, with just eight to the Chargers’ 16.

Bellingham plays next at a tournament on Monday, Dec. 29, at Mountlake Terrace.
