Lummi tops rival

Lummi’s boys’ basketball team earned a 47-37 win over Grace Academy on Saturday, Dec. 20, at Grace Academy.

“Defensively, Adam (Lawrence) did a good job in the paint,” Lummi coach Jerome Toby said in a phone interview. “Jacob (Roberts) played unselfishly. And Trazil Lane had an exceptional game. He did a good job offensively playing unselfishly, took open shots and knocked them down.”

The 10-point win was big for the Blackhawks over a rival.

“Grace is always a well-coached team,” Toby added. “They come out, battle and play hard. They make us work on the offensive end. We had to grind this one out tonight. I’m proud of the boys for sticking this one out.”

Lummi plays next at 7:15 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, at Meridian.
