Mount Baker runs into hot Sedro-Woolley squad in loss

Sedro-Woolley’s boys’ basketball team overwhelmed Mount Baker with high percentage shooting and strong defense in a 82-52 Mountaineers’ loss Thursday, Dec. 18, at Sedro-Woolley.

Timothy Soares led the Mountaineers with 14 points and eight rebounds, and TJ Bass added 13.

“TJ Bass had a good game, he bounced back from a rough game against Sehome,” Mount Baker coach Rob Gray said in a phone interview.

Jackson Price led the Cubs with 28 points. Sedro-Woolley made 12 3-pointers and won the turnover battle 28-8.

“Turnovers was a huge part of it, and threes obviously,” Gray said. “They just overwhelmed us. They’re a lot more mature group than ours and we struggled with pressure.”

Mount Baker takes on La Conner at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, on the road.
