Ferndale struggles in second half against Anacortes

Ferndale’s girls’ basketball team came up short in a 37-34 defeat against Anacortes on Thursday, Dec. 18, at Anacortes High School.

The Golden Eagles’ Linsey Honeycutt had a double-double with 12 points and 17 rebounds. Carly Bannerman finished the game with 10 points, all coming in the first half.

“Defensively we played a good game holding Anacortes to only 37 points, we just couldn’t put the ball in the net,” Ferndale coach Mike Ivy said in a phone interview.

Ferndale went into halftime with a 28-18 lead, but was only able to score six in the second half in the defeat.

“Carly came out and played well tonight,” Ivy said.

The Golden Eagles take on Oak Harbor on Saturday, Dec. 18, at home.
