Lynden Christian girls earn win over Squalicum

The Lynden Christian girls’ basketball team earned a 52-26 victory Thursday, Dec. 18, at Squalicum.

Squalicum coach Mark Wright said the Storm hung with the Lyncs for awhile.

“It was a pretty competitive game in the first half,” Squalicum coach Mark Wright said in a phone interview. “I thought we were defending well in the first half and rebounding well in the first half. The 17-3 third quarter just blew the game open.”

Sam Van Loo had 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Lyncs, Sarah Dougan added 10 points, Kara Bajema had nine and Emmalee Bailey had eight points.

Sydney Arndorfer had eight points for Squalicum, Chalae Wolters added seven and Hannah Kohr pulled down seven rebounds.

“I was really proud of Sydney Arndorfer for how she played for us,” Wright said, “but on to the next game.”

The Storm has a 7:15 p.m. game at Marysville-Pilchuck on Friday, Dec. 19, and Lynden Christian faces Bellarmine Prep at noon, Saturday, Dec. 20, at the Showare Center in Kent.
