Ferndale’s hot start leads to victory against Anacortes

Ferndale’s girls’ basketball team defeated Sedro-Woolley 65-39 on Tuesday, Dec. 16, at Sedro-Woolley High School.

The Golden Eagles’ Linsey Honeycutt led the game with 25 points and 19 rebounds, Abby Reid and Carly Bannerman finished with 12 points apiece.

“We had a really good start. We had 16 points four minutes into the game. We did a good job holding down most of their starters tonight,” Ferndale coach Mike Ivy said in a phone interview.

Honeycutt played most of the game in foul trouble and her teammates were doing a good job finding her in traffic, Ivy said. Bannerman had 10 of her 12 points in the first half.

Ferndale takes on Anacortes next at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 18, at Anacortes.
