Ferndale’s toughness shows in victory against Cubs

Ferndale’s boys’ basketball team defeated Sedro-Woolley on 82-71 on Tuesday, Dec. 16, at Ferndale High School.

The Golden Eagles’ Austin Honeycutt led the game with 37 points and 16 rebounds, Carson Genger finished with 16 points. Sedro-Woolley’s Jackson Price finished with 22 points.

“Honeycutt’s teammates got him the ball throughout the game. Genger came off the bench and played very well for us,” Ferndale coach Monte Walton said in a phone interview.

Ferndale’s physicality and toughness is what Walton thought to be the difference in the game during the fourth quarter. Ferndale outscored Sedro-Woolley 21-12 in the quarter.

The Golden Eagles take on Anacortes on Friday, Dec. 19, at home.
