Blackhawks girls’ basketball earns first win of the year

The Lummi girls’ basketball team bounced back from a season-opening loss to earn a 33-18 Northwest League win over Tulalip Heritage on Friday, Dec. 12, at Lummi High School.

Freshman guard Nicki Revey led the Blackhawks with a team-high eight points, Jayda Phair added seven and Sarah Burke had six.

“We came out a lot more relaxed tonight,” Lummi coach Albert Toby said in a phone interview. “We had very good ball movement. Nicki Revey played excellent on both ends of the court.”

The Blackhawks built a 17-11 halftime lead before putting the game away by outscoring Tulalip Heritage 12-2 in the third quarter.

Lummi (1-1) faces Mount Rainier Lutheran next at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, at home.
