Anacortes’ defense shuts down Sehome

Anacortes’ boys’ basketball team used an effective 2-3 zone to neutralize Sehome in a 62-45 Seahawks win on Thursday, Dec. 11, at Anacortes.

The Mariners were led by Leighton Kingma’s nine points. Jordan Neville led Anacortes with 19.

“Anacortes was solid defensively,” Sehome coach A.J. LaBree said in a phone interview. “We made too many simple mistakes we need to clean up.”

The Seahawks also won the turnover battle, forcing 23 Mariners turnovers to just seven for Anacortes.

The Mariners play next at 7:15 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, at Marysville-Getchell.
