Alex Martin scored a game-high 21 points to lead Meridian’s boys’ basketball team to a 47-40 win over Nooksack Valley on Thursday, Dec. 11, at Meridian.
Martin also had a team-high nine rebounds, three steals and just one turnover. His poise in the games final minutes allowed the Trojans to hang on, coach Shane Stacy said.
“Alex did a great job of slowing things down and he had a couple of big assists when we needed them,” the Meridian coach added in a phone interview. “We seemed to be racing back and forth in the second half. He had a great all-around game ... when we needed him to be a floor general, he took on that roll.”
Connor Beard led the Pioneers with 16 points and five assists before fouling out. Aaron Bosscher added 11 points for Nooksack Valley.
