Lummi girls’ basketball takes loss to Orcas Christian

The Lummi girls’ basketball team suffered a 71-20 Northwest League loss to Orcas Christian on Thursday, Dec. 11, at Lummi.

Blackhawks coach Albert Toby said his team played tentative early on, as Orcas Christian built a 21-6 first-quarter lead and a 42-14 halftime lead.

Senior post Treena Humphreys scored a team-high eight points, while Sarah Burke added six for Lummi.

“I felt like we came out real nervous, but after the flow of the game we settled down,” Toby said in a phone interview. “Treena, she played extremely well. She had a lot of hustle.”

Lummi will play Tulalip Heritage next at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, at Lummi.
