Mount Baker overcomes turnover problems in overtime win

Mount Baker’s boys’ basketball team overcame a 26-10 turnover differential to defeat Mornington (Austrialia) 63-57 in overtime on Tuesday, Dec. 9, at Mount Baker.

The Mountaineers were led by Timothy Soares’ 19 points and 18 rebounds, and Colton Ranson added 18 points.

“(Turnovers) made the game closer than it should have been,” Mount Baker coach Rob Gray said in a phone interview. “In the fourth we pushed the lead to eight and they got back in it because of turnovers. Colton Ranson had his best game of the season so far. He did a nice job finding ways to score and provided great leadership.”

Baker out-rebounded Mornington 44-12.

Mount Baker will play Bellingham next at 7:15 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 12 at Mount Baker.
