Blackhawks win season opener

Lummi’s boys’ basketball team started off its season with a 68-34 win over Providence Classical Christian on Tuesday, Dec. 9, at Providence Classical Christian.

Austin Brockie led all scorers with 17 points and Dino Williams, Willie Jones, Trazil Lane and Kavarez Lane all scored in double digits.

“It was good to see them back out on the court,” Lummi coach Jerome Toby said in a phone interview. “The effort was there, the hustle was there. ... We have a lot of improvement ahead of us, but I enjoyed seeing them playing again.”

The Blackhawks play Orcas Island Christian Thursday, Dec. 11, at home.
