Meridian’s big second quarter key in win

Meridian’s boys’ basketball team defeated the Mornington Breakers 59-50 on Monday, Dec. 8, at Meridian.

The Trojans’ Alex Martin finished the game with 23 points and five 3-pointers, Nick Rautenberg had 13 points and nine rebounds.

Although the offense shot the ball well, Meridian coach Shane Stacy wants to be more aggressive with the ball.

“We have got to be a lot more aggressive offensively and get to the line more,” Stacy said in a phone interview.

Meridian’s offense only shot six free throws for the whole game.

The Trojans’ next game will be against Burlington-Edison at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 9, at Meridian.
