Mount Baker’s girls’ basketball team defeated Port Townsend 80-21 on Saturday, Dec. 6, at Mount Baker.
The Mountaineers’ Emily Yost led the game with 23 points, Kylee Engholm had 14 and Emily Brandland and Brittany Call each finished with 12.
“We were bigger than them and had more experience. Port Townsend only had one girl who played varsity last year,” Mount Baker coach Brenda Ellis said in a phone interview.
A few of Mount Baker’s younger players Summer Millman, Samantha Jacoby and McKenzie Yost were able to see the floor more in the game.
“It’s nice for our younger kids to get in there and have some successful minutes, they did a good job,” Ellis said.
The Mountaineers’ next game will be against at 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 8, at Coupeville.
