Lyncs enjoy big day in Arizona

Lynden Christian’s Jake Poag dropped 20 points and the Lyncs’ boys’ basketball team blasted past Joy Christian 66-23 on Friday, Dec. 5, at a tournament in Arizona. The Lyncs play King’s Way Christian on Saturday, Dec. 6, in the consolation final.

The Lyncs jumped out to a big lead Friday night and never looked back.

“Cody Fransen sparked us early. All seven of his points were in the first four minutes of the game,” LC coach Roger DeBoer said in a phone interview. “We took the game in command early and went from there.”

The Lyncs forced 23 turnovers in the contest, a great sight to see for DeBoer.

LC (1-2) will play its third game in three days tomorrow, and that’s the benefit of this early season tournament.

“It’s a great opportunity to rotate a lot of players and get a great look against some really good competition,” DeBoer said.
