Mariners handle Australian team

Sehome’s boys’ basketball team handled a visting Australian team, as the Mariners cruised to a 82-29 win on Friday, Dec. 5, at Sehome High School.

Leighton Kingma scored 22 points in the win, as the Mariners forced 28 turnovers.

“We got after it on the defensive end and pushed the ball,” assistant coach Jordan Chalfant said in a phone interview. “Kingma had his coming out game.”

Sehome outrebounded the Aussies 62-28, bolstered by Sam Carroll’s seven rebounds.

The Mariners (2-0) play Squalicum Tuesday, Dec. 9, on the road.
