Weg’s big second half key in Ferndale win

Ferndale’s boys’ basketball team rolled to a 69-53 win over Burlington-Edison on Tuesday, Dec. 2, at Ferndale.

Austin Honeycutt led the Golden Eagles with 20 points, and John Weg added 18 points and a team-high 14 rebounds.

“We needed to go inside in the second half, and I think John Weg had 12 of his 18 in the second,” Ferndale coach Monte Walton said in a phone interview. “I think we really shared the ball really well.”

Sky Freeman added 13 points for the Golden Eagles.

Ferndale takes on Mount Baker at 7:15 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, at home.
