Pioneers earn first win in more than a year with victory over Blaine

Nooksack Valley’s boys’ basketball team defeated Blaine 50-43 in a nonconference game on Tuesday, Dec. 2, at Nooksack Valley.

The win was the first in one year and nine months for the Pioneers, coach Chris Scrimsher said.

“It’s a pretty exciting night for Nooksack,” he said in a phone interview. “The boys have been working extremely hard in practice. It was nice to see the fundamentals we’ve been working on make a difference.”

Connor Beard led the Pioneers at the point guard position and only committed one turnover, Scrimsher said. Noah Rawls and Aaron Bosscher also stood out in the historic victory.

Nooksack Valley takes on Squalicum at 7:15 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, at Squalicum. Blaine hosts Meridian at 7:15 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4.
