Lyncs comeback bid falls short against Anacortes

Lydnen Christian’s boys’ basketball team came back from down 25-16 at halftime, but Anacortes was able to hold the Lyncs off at the end as LC took a 55-52 loss on Monday, Dec. 1, at Anacortes.

The Lyncs were led by Zach Roetcisoender’s 14 points, but it was Lucas Roetcisoender and his 11 points that coach Roger DeBoer said were key.

“We had to come from a long way back and I was really proud of hte fact they fouth hard coming back,” DeBoer said in a phone interview. “Lucas sparked it in the second half coming off the bench. For our first big game on the road, we found out we have a lot to be excited about, but we have a lot of work to do.”

Jo Meppelink led Lynden Christian in assists with five of its 11 total.

The Lyncs hit the road for the next few games, travelling to Arizona for the Christian Cup tournament from Thursday to Saturday, Dec. 4-6, in Gilbert, Ariz.
