Lynden sweeps doubleheader against Sedro-Woolley

Lynden’s softball team defeated Sedro-Woolley 4-1 and 7-3 in a doubleheader on Monday, May 11, at Janicki Fields.

Tanna Benson earned her 12th win of the season in the first game and Hannah Rothwell earned her sixth win in the second.

In the first game, Teylor Eshuis went 1 for 2 with an RBI and Benson went 1 for 2 with an RBI to lead the Lions at the plate.

“Sedro played like they are fighting for a playoff spot,” Lynden coach Steve Petersen said in a phone interview. “Gave us all we wanted. We finally capitalized in the late innings.”

In the second game, Hannah Rothwell had two RBI, Benson had a triple and two RBI and Mandy Warner had a triple and a run.

“We were really patient and got a big inning late,” Petersen said.

Lynden will take on Squalicum next at 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, on the road.
