Puhan earns sixth win as Ferndale defeats Blaine 8-1

Kyler Schemstad went 2 for 4 with two RBI to lead Ferndale’s baseball team to an 8-1 victory against Blaine on Wednesday, May 6, at Pipeline Fields.

The Golden Eagles’ Corbin Puhan earned his sixth win of the season and only allowed two hits. Kyler Brudwick went 1 for 3 with a double and two RBI and Connor Erickson went 1 for 3 with two runs and an RBI.

“We had some timely hitting today all through the lineup,” Ferndale coach Donny Hennigs said in a phone interview. “We had eight guys hit the ball today.”

The Borderites’ Cody Gobbato went 1 for 3 and Brendan Riddle went 1 for 2 with a run scored to lead Blaine at the plate.

Ferndale finished the regular season in a three-way tie for first place and will open the Class 3A District tournament at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 9. Blaine’s season is finished.
