Toivola leads Mount Baker to 11-1 win against Lynden Christian

Mount Baker’s softball team defeated Lynden Christian 11-1 on Monday, May 4, at Lynden Christian High School.

The Mountaineers’ Aleks Toivola earned her 10th win of the season and Allison Smit received the loss for the Lyncs. Jordan Miles went 2 for 3 with a triple and an RBI and Emily Brandland went 2 for 3 with an RBI to lead Mount Baker at the plate. Lynden Christian’s Riley Van Hulzen went 1 for 2 with a double and Avery Dykstra went 1 for 2 with a double and an RBI.

“Aleks did a good job. She had a perfect game going into the fifth inning,” Mount Baker coach Ron Lepper said in a phone interview. “We stayed patient and took advantage of a couple walks on offense.”

Mount Baker will play Nooksack Valley next at 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 8, on the road. Lynden Christian will take on Sedro-Woolley next at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, May 7, at Janicki Fields.
